Curacies at Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich

Three church-planting curates are needed in Ipswich for June/September, including at St Thomas the ApostleSt Mary le Tower and St Margaret’s.

We are half-way on our 'Inspiring Ipswich' journey to see 1,500 new disciples and at least 25 new worshipping communities by the end of 2025. We are now looking to appoint church-planting curates (currently ordinands) to help us multiply the many good things God is doing here. If this might be you, we'd love to meet and explore the possibilities. Do have a look at our website for more info, talk to one or more of our three Training Incumbents and then, if interested, make a formal expression of interest to [email protected] by 28 February and we'll be in touch. Interviews: 8 March 2023.

NB: We are open to imaginative responses.

St Thomas the Apostle, Ipswich

If you'd be interested in helping us develop our new youth congregation, 'The Haven,' come to Ipswich! We are a growing, lively, informal-meets-liturgical liberal catholic church with worship rooted in the sacramental tradition, in an estate parish to the West of Ipswich. We are committed and hard-working, running a Top-Up Shop (food pantry), a 'warm space', wellbeing café and much more. We have an awesome group of young people already part of our church and there are great opportunities to connect more with our local schools and to build relationships with young people in the parish. We invite you to help us share the love of God, taking ‘The Haven’ from a brand-new congregation to a thriving worshipping community where young people know they are welcomed, safe, and loved.

"Our church family is small but mighty, and gloriously vibrant. We live Christ’s love in our community, meeting need with generosity and grace. We’d love to welcome you as we grow together." – Revd Rachel Revely ([email protected]).

St Mary le Tower, Ipswich

Would you like to plant a new congregation with a sacramental focus based around hospitality and fellowship in an area of high urban deprivation? We are a growing civic church in the catholic Anglican choral tradition, nestled in the busy centre of a diverse & growing town. Among the activities and communities existing within the church are a Top-Up Shop and a top-rate choir with over 60 members (nearly 40 under the age of 18). The opportunities for growing the church, as well as for personal development and formation are enormous. We are looking for someone to help us build and deepen existing relationships, as well as help people encounter God and grow in holiness and love. If you’d enjoy being part of a fast-moving and dynamic town-centre church with lots of opportunities to pray, learn, and help God’s Church grow, please be in touch.

"With daily worship, a Eucharistic heart, and a loving community with thousands of people on our doorstep every day, there is huge potential here for a great curacy. Come and join the team!” – Revd Tom Mumford ([email protected]).

St Margaret’s, Ipswich

Come and join us if you'd like to help St Margaret's become a beacon for children, families and young people in this central Ipswich parish that borders Christchurch Park. As part of a growing parish team, together we will discern and realise new pathways for people to grow in faith. We'd love you to build on the pioneering work of our Parish Evangelist and the amazing relationships with our thriving local CofE school by planting a midweek congregation of children and families. A broad church with a mixture of different traditions, a curacy here at St Margaret's will offer you a wide range of opportunities and experiences: we hope that you will grow with us as much as we hope to grow with you! If this might be your call, please be in touch to find out more.

"St Margaret's is well placed to grow - if you share that desire for growth, do get in touch!" – Revd Sarah Geileskey ([email protected]).
